Pro-ject Primary E
Focused on sound quality. Pure and simple
Putting engineering excellence above ‘bells and whistles’, the Pro-Ject Primary E is designed for the best sound quality at its price. The deck features a high quality 230 volt motor for smooth running. The main bearing is made from stainless steel and runs within a Teflon-coated bronze bushing. This type of engineering quality is usually reserved for much more expensive decks and helps give the Primary E its class-leading sound quality.
A winner made better
Already a multi-award-winner, the Primary E now uses a totally revised motor for purer sound. Out go the old plug-based power supply and 9v motor to be replaced by a superior, directly connected 230v motor previously used in higher spec Project decks. Without an external power supply and the necessary processing, the new Primary E offers a low distortion, and extremely stable sound.
Easy set-up
Despite offering genuine hi-fi sound, the Primary E is designed for ease of use. From unboxing, all that’s needed is for the platter to be placed on the bearing, the belt attached, the stylus guard removed and you’re good to play. Both cartridge and counter weight are already fixed so there’s no need for complicated adjustments.
Factory-fitted Ortofon cartridge
This deck comes pre-fitted with a top-brand Ortofon OM 1S cartridge. Giving smooth, natural sound quality, the OM 1S tracks smoothly and sounds musical. As part of the Optimum Match (OM) range, the stylus is upgradable to 5, 10, 20, 30 and 40 models, giving plenty of scope for future upgrading.
Simple is best
In a classic case of form following function, the Project Primary E offers effortless style through its pared down minimalism. Unlike like some, though, it’s not so pared back that it doesn’t feature a lid – a smart acrylic lid is standard with the Primary E.
The ideal starter turntable, the Project Primary E is still the perfect introduction to vinyl seduction.
The Cambridge Audio AXA25 puts sound first – great sound simply doesn’t get much better than this.
No bells and whistles, just great sound
Inside the AXA25 you’ll find quality components and short signal paths for the best sound quality in its class. Careful circuit design reduces the signal path, giving higher purity sound and less distortion. Other quality engineering components include a high-spec heat sink that is die-cast rather than pressed steel and a damped power supply – reducing the chance of annoying transformer hum and buzz.
All the features you need
Although Cambridge Audio hasn’t wasted money on gimmicks, the AXA25 still has all the basic features you need. Balance, Bass and Treble controls let you tailor the sound to your preference, without overly distorting it as EQ presets can do. There are also a wide range of inputs.
Plenty of inputs – including one at the front
Four RCA phono inputs are ideal for a CD player, streamer, games console and turntable (with built-in pre-amp). There’s also a 3.5mm AUX input at the front that’s handy for temporary connections – such as an MP3 player or smartphone. The audio output lets you take a signal out to an external processor or recorder.
Power your music player or Bluetooth receiver
Next to the audio inputs you’ll also find a handy USB power socket. This is perfect for powering Bluetooth receivers or smart audio streaming devices, such as the Google Chromecast Audio, without having to find another spare mains socket.
Sleek new style
The entire Cambridge AX Series has a fresh new look that catches the eye. The Lunar Grey front panel contrasts with the black top and sides, making it ‘pop’ into crisp focus. The minimalist button count give a timeless style that’s typical of the Cambridge Audio brand. The teardrop facia with wedge foot mirrors the CX Series, showing a strong family link between ranges.
Make your move into hi-fi separates in style, with the class-leading Cambridge Audio AXA25.
Q Acoustics 3010 speakers
Award-wining predecessors
The Q Acoustics 2000-Series was one of the most widely praised speaker ranges of its time. Having picked up numerous awards, it’s fair to stay that the range was something of a standard setter in its class. With revisions to every aspect of that fundamentally assured design, the 3000-Series is set to take the market by storm.
Revised drive units
At the heart of the 3010 are new drive units. Starting at the top, the new Ring Dome tweeter provides a more accurate response, for precise reproduction of even the most subtle aspects of music. The tweeter unit is decoupled from the rest of the cabinet, meaning that it isn’t affected by vibration from the bass unit. The new Aramid fibre/paper woofer cone is light, rigid, and helps give the 3010s their punchy, agile sound quality.
Class-leading cross-over, improved cabinet design
With revised cabinet bracing, the distinctive Q Acoustics cabinets have been made even better. With reduced cabinet resonance, the sound is less coloured and truer to its studio or concert venue sound. Up-rated audiophile-grade crossover components improve the transparency of sound still further.
New finishes too
Still distinctively designed with signature rounded cabinets, the new 3000-Series is available in a wider range of finishes than ever. Choose between Matt Graphite, Black Leather Effect or Black Lacquer for a technical look to blend well with your other hi-fi components. Alternatively, White Lacquer looks great in modern interiors. Finally, the American Walnut vinyl finish is the ideal complement for both antique and traditional furniture.
One of the finest small stereo speakers in its class and equally impressive as part of a home cinema system, the Q Acoustics 3010 has just raised the standard yet again.
