Kaiyo Mizunara Oak
A cask strength variant of Kaiyo Whisky, a Japanese teaspooned malt that has endured a maturation in mizunara casks, is known for being expensive though difficult for coopers to work with. These whiskies also spend part of their maturation at sea, as to help develop their flavour profiles.
Nikka Coffey Grain
Using the two Coffey stills at the Miyagikyo distillery (named after its inventor Aeneas Coffey – not the flavour!) within the Miyagikyo distillery for the elaboration of its single grain whiskies. Imported from Scotland in 1963, these old stills yield a distillate with more flavour and depth than modern column stills, imparting a distinct character that defines the house blends. These two unique bottlings showcase the innovative spirit of Nikka.
Ichiro’s Malt

Bottled at 46.5% ABV, this exquisite expression is a testament to Ichiro Akuto’s visionary craftsmanship, blending the unique characteristics of the Hanyu and Chichibu distilleries. Ichiro’s Malt, created by the innovative Ichiro Akuto, is a hallmark of Japanese whisky excellence. The brand’s legacy began with the Hanyu Distillery, founded by Ichiro’s grandfather in 1941. Despite the distillery’s closure in the early 2000s, Ichiro Akuto preserved its heritage by acquiring the remaining casks and continuing the family tradition. In 2008, Ichiro Akuto established the Chichibu Distillery in Saitama Prefecture, near Tokyo. The distillery quickly gained a reputation for producing exceptional whiskies, combining traditional Scottish techniques with innovative Japanese methods. Chichibu’s whiskies are celebrated for their complexity and depth, often aged in a variety of cask types. Ichiro’s Malt Double Distilleries Release is a unique blend that captures the essence of both Hanyu and Chichibu, reflecting the rich history and meticulous craftsmanship of Ichiro’s Malt. This release is a celebration of the synergy between two legendary distilleries, offering a distinctive and multifaceted whisky experience.
